Save Our Soil is undertaking a local community effort in West Virginia’s Eastern Panhandle to create eco-friendly yards that give back to the planet. Our Lawns to Life! initiative is transforming grass lawns into biodiverse landscapes for a simple reason: Earth depends on it.
Did you know…? |
A diverse variety of native plants grown regeneratively helps to stabilize and restore failing ecosystems that support life on this planet, including humans, pollinators, and a whole range of other wildlife. Transforming yards is also necessary in the fight against climate change – biodiverse yards help the soil to absorb atmospheric carbon, a major cause of climate change; help to mitigate the effects of extreme weather events like floods and droughts; and positively influence air temperatures.
Are you ready to make a difference?
Take the Lawns-to-Life Pledge
Pledge to use regenerative practices to transform your lawn into a haven of biodiversity. Help fight climate change and save life on earth. Join others in your community and take this important first step for Earth’s future.
As you complete the pledge, you’ll be asked to indicate whether you are willing to make your commitment public. Seeing your commitment can help to encourage others to join our Lawns to Life! movement. Earth depends on it.

Start Transforming Your Yard
Each yard is different as is everyone’s situation. Start with a grand plan or a single native plant. Work on it all at once or little-by-little, section-by-section. You may decide to leave some open space but convert it to maintenance-free, pollinator-friendly clover.
Whatever you decide, the important thing is to follow regenerative practices along the way and get started! You can take comfort in knowing that you will be making an earth-friendly difference and may discover the enjoyment of a new relationship with the outdoors, the land in your care, food and medicinals, wildlife and your neighbors. You might even regenerate yourself!
